Thailand: Prisons banned to watch live World Cup TV to prevent gambling.

Section: General News - Prisons throughout Thailand were ordered not to allow inmates to watch live matches of the World Cup 2006 on television, but to show them recorded competitions on tapes to prevent gambling, said a senior official on Friday.

Corrections Department Director-General Nathee Chitsawang told TNA that with approach of the World Cup 2006 matches, scheduled for June 9-July 9, the department had issued a circular to every prison nationwide to ban football gambling among inmates.
