n Bowker US has appointed Annie Callanan (below) as its president and CEO, replacing Michael Cairns who stepped down in January. Callanan was most recently executive vice president of Advanstar Communications' Life Sciences Group, a healthcare publisher. Previously, she worked for CMP Media.
n UK Serials Group (UKSG), the industry body set up to encourage the exchange of ideas on printed and electronic serials and the process of scholarly communication, has appointed Paul Harwood, a former MD of Swets Blackwell, as its new chairman. Harwood is a director and co-founder of Content Complete, a consultancy set up in June 2003 to specialise in contract negotiations for consortia and large institutional buyers of academic journals. He replaces Keith Courtney of Taylor & Francis.
