Ann Arbor goes AALL out on Google lookup

Edward Vielmetti, a research associate at the University of Michigan, is trail-blazing the integration of Google Book Search and electronic library catalogues. Code developed by Vielmetti enables searchers in Ann Arbor, Michigan to see if the titles they require are held by the university or local libraries.
Vielmetti was able to develop Google Books Ann Arbor Library Lookup (AALL) by adapting existing code from InfoWorld lead analyst Jon Udell, and using the Firefox browser plug-in Greasemonkey.
Vielmetti has so far created two versions of Google Books AALL -- for the Arbor District Library and for the University of Michigan library. He developed the plug-in without the help or permission of Google, but said it had shown an interest in the work.
