Councils roll out Google Mini on back of Jadu CMS
Accuracy and speed improve, and customer service traffic shifts to web, as council implements Google Mini-based content management. Kim Thomas reports
Kettering Council is one of 12 local authorities that have opted for the Google Mini enterprise search engine as a result of adopting Jadu, the e-government content management application supplier.
The Google Mini search engine -- the blue box smaller brother to the Google Enterprise Search yellow box -- has also been integrated as the intranet and external search engine for Kettering.
It has made a "huge difference" to customers, said Marion Goodman, Kettering's customer services manager. "Our existing search engine was not getting highly relevant results. Results now are far more accurate."
The new search engine was also faster, taking an average of 0.3 seconds to return results, Goodman said.
