Censorship, gender and IT: Tracey Caldwell finds it all in the standard textbook

This edition of An Introduction to Library and Information Work updates what has become the standard textbook for new students on library and information courses and para-professional library staff. It now has an international perspective, with a new chapter providing a global overview of the profession.

Its guide to library practice supports current library NVQ study and Cilip accreditation. Author Anne Totterdell draws in the new student with an outline of hot topics such as pay and image and gender issues. She points out that librarians play a key role in such major current issues as censorship of sensitive or offensive material.
