EIU finds compliance failure is greatest threat to reputation
Corporate reputations are important, but difficult assets to protect, a survey from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has found. The last five years has seen the threat to corporate reputations rise significantly, according to 84% of the executives interviewed. Companies struggle to categorise risk effectively because of confusion. The survey found compliance failures as the most likely cause of risk to a corporate reputation, followed by un-ethical practices. Delivering a poor service to customers was also a major threat. "Reputational threats represent the biggest risk to business, according to this survey. But because it is hard to categorise and measure, many companies lack a formal strategy," said Daniel Franklin, EIU editorial director.
