Outsell projects a search sector growth spurt
Major advances predicted for search, training and market research sectors, reports Bobby Pickering
Things are looking less than rosy for the STM, legal, news and yellow pages/directories sectors of the information industry over the next few years, according to the latest forward-looking report from US market tracker Outsell.
FutureFacts: Information Industry Outlook 2006 was released to coincide with Outsell's annual Go! Industry event last month. It predicts a global compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for the industry over the next four years (2005-2008) of 8%.
But it's the search vendors which stand to develop the most muscle. What Outsell terms the Search Aggregation and Distribution Services (SADS) sector will have a CAGR of 17% during this period, well outperforming any other sector, and making it morph into the second biggest market after the News and Trade sector.
Outsell expects global SADS
