May 20--Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools needs almost $150 million to start essential new schools and renovation projects, Associate Superintendent Guy Chamberlain told an advisory panel Friday. Chamberlain laid out plans to build four new elementary schools, renovate three middle schools and expand booming North Mecklenburg High. The one-year spending plan also calls for snagging two plots of suburban land and creating cost-saving school designs.
