Floraday: Photos of this new Camry are a bit misleading; it looks much bigger in the sheetmetal. Speaking of sheetmetal, this car has some worth noticing, certainly more exciting than past designs. The body kit that comes with the SE model, however, might be a bit too aggressive for a car that feels like a Buick.
A drive of the Camry resembles that of a Buick. Despite the respectable powertrain, the Camry is not driver-oriented. Steering feels good at lower speeds, but once you hit the highway it feels a bit too light, and not nearly as tight and precise as in a Honda Accord. The suspension does a decent job of soaking up bumps.
Passing on the highway doesn't require much room, just a squeeze of the gas. A healthy 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of twist are sent to the front wheels through the silky six-speed automatic: You barely feel the shifts. Inside, the seats are comfortable and there is plenty of room. Legroom in the back seat is generous and the trunk is enormous. Toyota will have no problem unloading this year's supply of Camrys.
