When Luca di Montezemolo speaks, we listen. Here's the latest from the 59-year-old president and CEO of Ferrari, president of Maserati and chairman of Fiat.
AW: What do you think of the idea that you are married to Ferrari?
di Montezemolo: It's hard to believe I started (as president) in 1991. I am the longest-serving chief executive in the automobile industry-please don't say the oldest!-and just today we approved a fantastic balance [financial report] for 2005. All marriages should go so well.
AW: You studied international commerce at Columbia University in New York. Has that influenced your approach to business?
di Montezemolo: I am not sure, but after I retire I think I will spend six months a year in the United States. For now my kids are saying "something else!'' We have spent all of our vacations there, in just about every corner.
AW: You are that fond of the United States?
