1. He has the best team
Team Penske has won Indy a record 13 times. Roger Penske's group has won the 500 three times since joining the Indy Racing League in 2001, the most recent in 2003 with since-retired Gil de Ferran.
Helio Castroneves holds his own among the Penske greats. He won the 500 in 2001 and 2002, and has never finished outside the top-10 in five starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Castroneves finished ninth the past two years and chased de Ferran to the checkered flag three years ago.
Castroneves is a proven winner, and he is certainly hungry to return to the most prestigious fence in motorsports.
