May 16--Young people's abuse of prescription drugs has surged compared with their use of illegal drugs such as marijuana and Ecstasy, according to a new national teen survey released today by the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. In response to the rising number of teens using prescription and over-the-counter drugs to get high, the Governor's Prevention Partnership, in cooperation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, will present a free workshop for parents, professionals and other adults Thursday morning at Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown.
