Dallas-area home health care providers are following the national rapid growth trend, but the leading agencies in the market aren't unfamiliar names.

In a Dallas Business Journal ranking of home health care companies compiled this month, the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas again topped the list, employing almost 14,000 people in the Dallas area. Austin-based Girling Health Care Inc., which has operated in the state since 1967, increased its Dallas presence, taking the No. 2 spot. Garland-based Outreach Health Services, Olsten Kimberly QualityCare, a new company formed from existing home health care providers, and Baylor HomeCare all increased their local operations.
