May 12--Marti Hancock sat stunned Thursday night after her name was called as Horry County's 2006-07 Teacher of the Year, while those sitting at her table jumped from their seats and began elatedly clapping in her honor.

Once Hancock took to her feet, she hugged everyone at the table before going to the podium to offer her thanks for the distinguished award.

"It truly is an honor to be here," said the Carolina Forest Elementary School kindergarten teacher.

"I am one person standing here, and I represent the most phenomenal people in the world, and they are the kindergarten teachers at Carolina Forest Elementary School. I…
