May 12--Eight people in Harvey County don't have measles after all, health officials said Thursday.
Testing has shown that the highly contagious measles virus wasn't the cause of rashes and fevers in either of the four original patients or four additional patients, state and county health officials said. Nor is it expected to be the diagnosis in two other people for whom testing hasn't been completed.
Rita Flickinger, Harvey County Health Department director, said preliminary tests linked the symptoms to the measles virus, but follow-up testing ruled it out.
