Jobless man handed life sentence for murdering elderly woman.

MAEBASHI -- An ex-securities company employee who murdered an elderly former customer was on Tuesday sentenced to life imprisonment.

"In targeting an elderly, weak woman, his crime was cunning," said the Maebashi District Court's presiding judge.

Shigeru Muramatsu, 38, planned to rob a former customer because he was cash-strapped after losing his money on gambling, according to the ruling.
