May 7--crosslands' home destroyed last month The Crossland family of Highland Creek came home April 19 to find their home on Harburn Forrest destroyed by a fire so hot that it melted siding off nearby homes.

"Seeing your house burn down is like watching a loved one die right in front of you," said Tyrone Crossland. "We had nothing of our own left." But in less than a week, the tight-knit community rallied around the family to make sure they had what they needed to start over, said Blythe Elementary PTA President Caroline Hinic.
