May 5--Prattville city employees have questioned Mayor Jim Byard's numbers regarding pay scale, according to a union representative.

Randy Rigsby of the United Steel Workers Union and city employees have discussed the option of forming an association tied to United Steel.

"In April of 2000 the average police officer made $13 an hour. Today the average police officer makes $20.47 an hour," Byard said in an article published in the Montgomery Advertiser Thursday. "We pay exactly what the highest department in the River Region pays, and that's the city of Montgomery."
