* Amid the brouhaha over the vice president's hunting accident, you might have missed some real news in Cheney's interview with Brit Hume. At the end of their talk, the Fox anchor asked whether "a vice president has the authority to declassify information." Yes, said Cheney, and "there is an executive order to that effect." Whereupon we learned about Executive Order 13292, issued by President Bush on March 25, 2003. The order gave the vice president many of the president's powers in dealing with classified information. The news set off feverish theorizing on the left. Aha! Cheney used his power to order his then-chief of staff Lewis Libby to expose the identity of Valerie Wilson? It was all part of the White House plot ...
