SLCVC awaits convention's long-term impact
Travel industry representatives pumped an estimated $3.5 million into the area's economy during their weeklong convention in St. Louis last month.
The 63rd World Congress of the American Society of Travel Agents flooded the area from Sept. 19-24 with 5,175 conventioneers. About half of the attendees were travel agents.
ASTA members, exhibitors, trade press and other convention-goers contributed $3.5 million in direct spending to the St. Louis economy, said Nancy Milton, spokeswoman for the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission.
