New funds MORE CHOICE ALL THE TIME The number of unit trusts in SA continues to increase. During the first quarter, it grew from 618 to 644.
There were no fund closures in the March quarter. In the previous quarter there was some spring-cleaning from Stanlib, SA's largest unit trust management company, which said goodbye to its Global and Global Brands funds and two funds of funds, the Multi-Manager Worldwide and Multi-Manager Worldwide Prudential.
Most of the new funds are not relevant to the public as they have been set up by brokers purely for their own client base. Chances are you will never have any dealings with companies such as Personal Trust, Dynamic Wealth, Vestco, Quadrix and Platinum, which account …
