THE Federal Government has restructured the Universal Basic Education (UBE) and abolished common entrance examination into junior secondary schools, heralding a new 9-year UBE curriculum designed by Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERC). Education Minister, Mrs. Chinwe Obaji, announced the reforms while speaking at Education for All (EFA) Week in Abuja last Thursday.
She disclosed that there will be a Lower Basic programme for primaries 1-3, Middle Basic levels from primaries 4-6 and Upper Basic comprising Junior Secondary 1-3.
