PROTON Holdings Bhd has the potential to sell more cars abroad but the national carmaker has been let down by its suppliers, managing director Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said.

Its current exports do not reflect the true potential as up to 35 per cent of orders are not fulfilled.

He said only between 60 per cent and 65 per cent of export orders are met, and that was because of delays in delivery of exclusive parts and other issues such as agreements.
