In this issue of Topics in Stroke Rehabilitation, you will meet a number of individuals with aphasia, as well as some of their family members. You will read their stories. All but one of the articles included here are in-depth qualitative studies that should help to clarify not only what it is like to be aphasic, but what helps stroke survivors and their families to live as well as possible with its communication and mobility consequences.
