THE NATIONAL Artist Award FOR the late Fernando Poe Jr. was never withdrawn, according to Cecille Guidote-Alvarez, executive director of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

Alvarez made the clarification in yesterdays Ciudad Fernandina media forum in San Juan yesterday. She added that the award for FPJ, who ran against President Macapagal-Arroyo in the 2004 election, had already been approved by Malacanang and there was no use turning the matter into a political issue.
