Apr. 19--Evie Cox drove 7 1/2 hours -- each way -- to join her former students and staff members at a party last week. "There was no way I'd miss this," Cox said after watching Alexander Graham Middle School, where she retired as principal last year, receive a national School to Watch award from the National Forum to Accelerate Middle School Reform. "What a wonderful opportunity to join the people who made this possible," Cox said. Alexander Graham, near the campus of Myers Park High School, is among two Charlotte-Mecklenburg middle schools to win the recognition this year, joining Mint Hill Middle.
