Apr. 16--Here's Levenger's hurricane disaster plan: Get out of town.
In recent weeks, the Delray Beach specialty retailer has been quietly moving its shipping business to Memphis and out of Delray. By May, all Levenger products will be sent from Tennessee. Computers and telephones are next, and they'll be gone by June 1, "before it starts getting windy here," said Steve Leveen, Levenger co-founder.
Levenger took the business community by surprise last fall when it announced it was moving its warehouse out of Florida's hurricane zone. Levenger, which sells products for writers and readers, is a homegrown company, started by Boca Raton residents Steve and Lori Leveen.
