Byline: CURT CAVIN
A week after the tragic death of Paul Dana, the sun came out for the Indy Racing League.
Everyone felt it at the downtown circuit in St. Petersburg. Large crowds gathered for the three-day street-course event, the Florida skies were as blue as the ocean, and the racing was as interesting as anyone could hope for.
Dana was honored for his spirit and determination at a memorial service at the track on Thursday. More than 300 people attended from the Indy car paddock, including what appeared to be all of the drivers, even those who didn't know the series rookie all that well.
There were plenty of Dana signs as the 19 cars took to the track. Team Penske had Dana's initials on the right mirrors of the cars. Dan Wheldon had "PD'' on his helmet.
There was a peace.
"You don't forget,'' veteran driver Tony Kanaan said. "But you have to move on.''
