Apr. 12--Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice PLLC said yesterday that Elizabeth "Betty" Quick is the new managing member for its Winston-Salem office.

It is the latest accomplishment for Quick, 57, in a career of firsts with the law firm, which is based in Winston-Salem and has its largest office here with 141 lawyers.

Quick is the first female lawyer to manage Womble's local office since the firm was founded in 1876. The promotion comes 25 years after Quick was selected as the firm's first female partner. Quick is a member of the firm's trusts and estates group.
