Karachi, 11 April: As many as 47 people were killed and over 50 injured in a bomb explosion at the Nishter Park in Karachi where an Eid-e-Milad un Nabi [Prophet Muhammad's birthday] meeting was in progress.

Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao termed it a terrorist act aimed at undermining the law and order situation.

A police spokesman said that senior officials rushed to the scene of blast which was cordoned off by police, Rangers and law-enforcement agencies.
