Soccer World Cup PUSH TO IMPROVE INFRASTRUCTURE The 2010 soccer World Cup will be the biggest sporting event yet hosted in Africa and will require a huge logistics effort by the host nation.

The local organising committee (LOC) has announced R7bn in spending to date, of which the bulk will be directed at new soccer stadiums. Significantly higher investments, however, are needed to develop supporting infrastructure like airports, security and transportation.
