Dismissing the Ford Fusion's performance potential out of hand is just too easy given the less-than-sporting intentions of its predecessor, the Taurus, as well as its larger stablemate, the Five Hundred. The humble do-everything family sedan (in any guise, take your pick) has rarely proven a worthy chariot for the aspiring Parnelli Jones in each of us, whatever titular resemblance said car might have to anything found in a NASCAR pit lane.
That said, the Fusion has enough good stuff to hold its own against all comers in the competitive world of people movers. We actually found its track manners to be surprisingly satisfying.
