A word or a phrase can be overused. In our culture, in entertainment... in our magazine. And apparently our logbook notes for the Hyundai Sonata LX have become redundant, as one editor recently admonished.
"Repeated references to `for the money' are starting to border on cliche or a cop-out.'' He might be right. But so far, that is our take on the car that easily compares to the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, a couple of mainstays in the industry.
For the money-in this case, in the low-$20,000 range-we like what we're driving.
The car's looks meet with approval, but they have also been called boring. The Sonata looks much like others in this segment. But we describe the interior as functional and handsome, and we're impressed with the fit-and-finish. The seating is comfortable, and with winter slowly fading away, the heated leather seats are still much appreciated.
