Apr. 5--After a 12-hour "meet the public" marathon today, the finalists for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools superintendent have agreed to stick around Thursday to talk to school board members. But most board members won't be around to talk to them. Chairman Joe White, George Dunlap and Vilma Leake are heading to Chicago for a National School Boards Association conference. Kaye McGarry is out of town on a family visit. Ken Gjertsen says he's too busy. Larry Gauvreau, who has dismissed the process as "rigged," isn't coming. That leaves Vice Chair Kit Cramer, Molly Griffin and Tom Tate to follow up after today's sessions. And the board plans to make its choice as early as Tuesday.
