IBM and Microsoft Corp. unveiled this month new or expanded programs to certify developers, systems integrators, and trainers specializing in OS/2 and Windows, respectively.

IBM last week introduced its Professional Certification Program, which will help users ensure that they are hiring qualified service and support professionals.

Software professionals can earn IBM certification as:

* OS/2 engineers, by demonstrating skills to support OS/2 installations, such as expertise in customizing and fine-tuning OS/2 systems;

* LAN Server engineers, by learning how to design, install, tune, service, and support LAN Server networks; and
