Two lecturers at the University of Botswana (UB) were beaten up by a mob of rioting students hours before the institution was shut down on Wednesday. UB's chief security officer, Robert Kalasi told Mmegi yesterday that the students also injured two foreigners using the university library.

The lecturers and foreigners sustained serious injuries when they were caught in the cross-fire as marauding students forced their colleagues with whips to join demonstrations. He said one lecturer reported that he was surrounded and abused by students who found him conducting a lesson on …
