Mar. 29--While hundreds of Salinas area students took to the streets in the second day of protest against proposed immigration legislation, a handful of Alisal High students decided to go after a resolution instead.
About 500 students from Everett Alvarez and Salinas high schools, joined by a couple of dozen Hartnell College students, marched through Salinas on Tuesday to decry federal legislation that would result in criminal charges for those detained crossing the border illegally.
Meanwhile, Alisal High was on lockdown for two hours in the morning, and a group of students who participated in Monday's march met with Alisal principal John Ramirez to explain their concerns.
