Sebring 12 Hour, March 18, Sebring International Raceway, Sebring, Florida
Every motorsports fan should attend the Sebring 12 Hour at least once. It is a North American sports car fixture-Daytona's 24-hour race can't approach it as an event-and history oozes out of every gap in the giant concrete blocks that make up much of this airfield circuit's surface. The world debut of Audi's R10 turbodiesel will add to its heritage.
There are some decent destinations in the area. A great bar is Duffers Sports Grille, (863) 382-6339, on the north side of Sebring on Highway 27. It's a biker joint, but its loads of racing memorabilia will get you in the mood for the race. You can also get a decent meal at Chicanes at the Inn on the Lakes, (863) 471-9400, also on Highway 27. Go early in the week and you'll probably rub shoulders with some drivers.
The Inn is the best hotel in town, but it is doubtful you can land a room for 2007, let alone 2006. If you haven't got a hotel by now, you're staying in Orlando. Otherwise, rent an RV and join the hordes in the Green Park infield.

Miller Motorsports Park looks like the best road course built in North America-or anywhere in the world-in the last 25 years. The track measures 4.5 miles and includes the kind of fast corners missing from so many new venues. The circuit's designer promises panoramic views.
