Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra ridiculed his rival Democrat party for ''flocking together'' with the People's Alliance for Democracy by seeking to replace him with a royally-bestowed prime minister, a move he said would obstruct democracy. Mr Thaksin said he never thought the Democrats would adopt the PAD stand on a royally-installed prime minister.

''What they are doing is equivalent to puncturing democracy,'' he said, during a visit to a motor show in Bangkok on March 25.
