Mar. 24--HIGH POINT -- Trade-show expertise trumped furniture-industry experience in the International Home Furnishings Market Authority's decision to hire Brian Casey as its second president yesterday.

Casey, 52, and a 26-year veteran of trade-show management, will replace Judy Mendenhall, who is retiring as the authority's president after 4 1/2 years. His first day will be April 18, which is nine days before the official start of the spring International Home Furnishings Market.

Casey is the owner and president of Next Generation Event Group Inc. of Chicago, which he plans to close. He will be paid $240,000 a year plus…
