NetLogic Microsystems, a maker of chips it calls "knowledge-based," is making geniuses out of one group of people -- its stockholders.

The little-known company's shares rose with machine-like precision throughout 2005, jumping 278%. Citigroup and other trackers called it the best-performing chip stock of the year. IBD gives the stock a Relative Strength Rating of 98, putting it among the top 2% of all stocks for the past 12 months.

This week, NetLogic hopes to continue its roll. It plans to unveil a faster chip line on Tuesday and release fourth-quarter results on Wednesday. Analysts expect the firm's pro forma per-share profit …
