Phoenix Greyhound Park recently converted three huge air-conditioning units from their use of the ozone-depleting CFC refrigerant R-12 to the environmentally friendly R-134a.
The facility was the first in the state to convert the huge McQuay centrifugal chillers to the new material.
"Phoenix Greyhound Park is an important member of the community, and its owners and manager strive to be socially responsible. That's the major reason why they decided to go ahead and convert the chillers," says Chuck Bennett, sales engineer at McQuay Service, the service arm of Snyder General Corp., which is based in Minneapolis.
