Students must play part in politics to be better citizens.

UNIVERSITY Malaya's recent dropping of charges against 15 of its undergraduates for attending a protest is a commendable step, but it should only be the first of many. The undergraduates were accused of violating the Universities and University Colleges Act (UUCA), which prohibits undergraduates from being politically active. There I was, thinking that taking part in your country's political process was called patriotism. Instead, it's against the law if you're an undergraduate or student. This needs to change.
