UPS is speeding up its ground delivery while bulking up air freight operations.
Mark Giuffre, a spokesman for UPS air operations in Louisville, Ky., said UPS is hiring an additional 1,500 workers there, both part-time package sorters and loaders as well as some full-time positions.
"We're hiring both for our new air freight facility and for our Worldport facility" serving the UPS air network, Giuffre said.
Roughly half of the hiring at Louisville is to absorb the new heavyweight air freight hub opening in in June, while the rest is to handle basic air express growth.
