A federal judge is recommending sanctions against the Resolution Trust Corp. for wasting time and money in a case related to the failure of Germania Bank.

At the same time, the judge criticizes local law firm Herzog Crebs and McGhee for not filing timely responses in the case.

Herzog Crebs and McGhee is representing the RTC in a suit that was filed against National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., an insurance company that provided coverage for alleged fraudulent acts committed by employees of Germania Bank before the thrift's failure in June 1990.
