Mar. 16--Addie Hays Carlson has big plans for the Hays and Howell family cemeteries in Warren County.
And the Bowling Green resident is determined to see them to completion, perhaps with a little help in the form of grants from the Kentucky Cemetery Preservation Program.
Carlson has relatives in both the Hays cemetery, located on a farm on Ben Thomas Road, and the Howell cemetery, nestled on a Hewitt Lane farm. The Hays cemetery is in better shape than the Howell, she said, but they both could use a lot of work.
"In the Howell cemetery, it's really bad," she said. "It's got a lot of stones that are cracked. ... You can still tell who they belong to and where the graves are, but it needs a fence around it; it needs cleaning up; and it needs all the stones repaired or replaced."…
