National Semi beats, ups outlook
National Semiconductor, which makes silicon chips used in computers, LCDs and high-definition TVs, said Q3 earnings rose 76% to 37 cents a share, beating views by a nickel. Revenue increased 22% to $547.7 mil. The company forecast 2%-4% revenue growth for Q4, implying sales of $558 mil-$569 mil, above views of $557 mil. Shares fell 3% to 27.18.
Google settles "click fraud' suit
The Internet search leader agreed to pay $90 mil to settle allegations that it charged its advertisers for phony sales referrals. The settlement, which applies to all Google advertisers during the past four years, requires final court approval. Google's rival Yahoo is also a defendant in the lawsuit, but said it will fight the charges. Google fell 3% to 343, closing below its 200-day moving average for the first time. Yahoo dipped 2.5% to 30.28.
