During Macworld 2006, Adobe Systems Inc. (San Jose, CA) debuted the public beta of Adobe Lightroom, its digital imaging system for professional photographers, for Macintosh OS X version 10.4.3.
Intended to deliver a complete digital photography workflow, Adobe Lightroom is a modular, task-based software solution that aids professional photographers in importing, managing, developing, and showcasing images. The user interface centers around the image, and boasts a Lights-Out mode that sends control panels and tools to the background and out of the photographer's way. Lightroom uses Adobe Camera Raw technology, supports more than 100 cameras, and enables users to convert files to Digital Negative (DNG) format, rename files, or segment files by date or folder upon import.
