Hargeysa, 11 March: Drawings depicting Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had been printed in a school textbook meant for grade one pupils.

The drawings depicting Prophet Muhammad appeared on pages 42 and 43 of the Islamic education textbook for the first grade.

Islamic religion prohibits the depiction of Prophet Muhammad in any way, shape or form.

The textbook was written in Arabic and the two pages in question give account of the prophet's life as a child and later as a young man.
