Mar. 9--Alexander County authorities on Wednesday were holding a man they said killed his girlfriend in South Carolina, then called his son in Alexander County to tell him so -- and was later arrested with the woman's body in the trunk of his car.

Deputies arrested Vladimir Pantovich, 54, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., about 6 a.m., after they stopped his car on Wayside Church Road in Alexander County, said Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Chris Bowman. He was charged with murder.

In the trunk, deputies found the body of Sheila Ann McPherson, 49, also of Murrells Inlet, a small town about 10 miles southwest of Myrtle Beach. It wasn't…
